Monuments and places of interest

Qutub Minar - 2.79 kms

Qutub Minar is the tallest Minar in India with a soaring 73m height. It was built in 1193 AD by Qutub-ud-Aibak, immediately after the defeat of last Hindu kingdom in Delhi. The Minar has 5 distinct storeys with a projected balcony on each storey. At the foot of the tomb is Quwwat-ul-Islam Mosque, the first ever mosque built in India. The courtyard of the mosque also has a 7m high iron pillar that was installed in the Gupta Dynasty and it still stands there without any sign of rusting.  It is said that if you can encircle it with your hands while standing with your back to it and make a wish, your wish will be fulfilled.

Lotus Temple – 5.8 Kms

Completed in 1986, the Lotus temple is the last of seven Major Bahai temples in the world. Standing tall among the lush green landscape, the temple structure is made up of white marble. Furiburz Sabha, the architect of this marvelous building chose the shape of lotus as the symbol common to Hinduism, Jainism, Buddhism and Islam. The temple is an abode for followers of any faith. They can visit the temple and meditate without restrictions pertaining to religion. Around this blooming flowered structure, there are nine pools of water that light up in natural light and looks spectacular during dusk when it is flood lit.

Safdarjung Tomb - 6.9 Kms

Built in 1753-54 as the mausoleum of Sadarjung, by the viceroy of Awadh under the Mughal emperor, Mohammed Shah, Safadarjung Tomb is the last enclosed tomb garden in the tradition of Humayun’s Tomb. Though far less grand in scale, the tomb has small pavilions with resonant names like Jangli Mahal, (Palace in the woods), Moti Mahal (Pearl Palace) and Badshah Pasand(King's favourite). The complex also has a madrasa.

Lodi Tomb – 7.3 Kms

Lodi Tomb is one of the popular monuments of Delhi, situated inside the premises of the picturesque Lodi garden. The tomb is situated in the southern portion of New Delhi, adjacent the Indian International Center. The tomb is the last resting place of one of the great rulers of India, Sikandar Lodi.

ISKCON Temple – 8 Kms

ISKCON Temple is located at Hari Krishna hill, in the East of Kailash area of New Delhi. It was built as recently as 1998 and is one of the most lavish and grand temples of the city. There is a museum in the temple which organizes multimedia shows to explain the philosophy and teachings of Ramayana and Mahabharata.

India Gate -10 Kms

This monument was built in memory of the 90,000 Indian soldiers who died in World War I. It was built in 1931, designed by Lutyens, and was originally called the All India War Memorial. The names of the soldiers are inscribed on the walls of the arc of the gate. India Gate stands at the end of Rajpath, and is a popular picnic site especially during evenings. At night, the Gate is brightly lit and the fountains near the Gate are lit with colored lights.

National Gallery of Modern Art -10 Kms

It is located in Delhi inside the Jaipur House, near India Gate. The National Gallery of Modern Art today has undeniably the most significant collection of modern and contemporary art in the country.

National Museum -10 Kms

The largest museum in India, National Museum has over 200,000 works of art, of both Indian and foreign origin, covering more than 5,000 years of Indian cultural heritage. Timings: 10am to 5pm (Monday Closed)

Tughlakabad Fort – 10 kms approx

Tughlakabad Fort was constructed with high battlements and the ruins of the fort exist till date. Tourists can visit the artificial lake situated at the southern gate of the Tughlakabad fort and also the remarkable tomb of Giyasuddin.

Jama Masjid -14 Kms

Jama Masjid is one of the largest mosque in India, also known by the name of "Masjid-i-Jahan Numa" (visible to the world). Situated near the Red Fort in Delhi, it is one of the last monuments built by Mughal emperor Shah Jahan. It took six years to complete this simple yet elegant monument. Jama Masjid was built on a high platform so as to make it visible from all the neighboring areas.

Red Fort -15 Kms

The Red Fort, with a circumference of over 2.2 kilometers, was laid out by the banks of the Yamuna river in the 17th century. The Mughal emperor Shajahan built it with the ambition of concentrating the Mughal power in one monument.

Akshardham -15 Kms approx

Besides showcasing 10,000 years of Indian Architectural heritage and culture in all its breathtaking grandeur, the sprawling Akshardham temple complex on the banks of the Yamuna boasts several attractions. These include the Hall of Values, Giant Screen theatre, Yagnapurush Kund and musical fountain, India’s largest step well, a fascinating 15 minutes boat ride experience of Indian heritage.

Garden of Five Senses - 2.5kms

The Garden of Five Senses is a park in Saidul Ajaib village, near the Mehrauli heritage area in Delhi, India. The park was developed by Delhi Tourism Transportation Development Corporation (DTDC), Government of Delhi. Though the 20-acre (81,000 m2) garden has numerous attractions, however the prime attractions of the park are the Khas Bagh, a beautiful garden, Food and shopping court, Neel Bagh, Color Gardens, the Courts of Specimen Plants, amazing sculptures and the interesting Solar Energy Park. The garden also has several fine dining outlets.
